With FaceMOUSE many applications can be found, as they derive from the use of PC through a conventional mouse functions. Most important are:

1. Windows common applications:
Piloting the mouse with FaceMOUSE it is possible a full use of Windows OS, interacting with menu, opening applications and most of the programs.

L'utente muovendo il proprio corpo (ad esempio il naso) dinanzi ad una webcam sposta la freccia del mouse; in questo modo utilizza qualunque applicazione di Windows

2. Electronic writing:
Thanks to FaceMOUSE even serious motoria disabled, who were not able to write with a PC or if they were, just with a scanning system, now potentially can write in an efficient way, with the major word processors (like Microsoft Word). Is has been demonstrated that after a few hours of training, FaceMOUSE is three time faster than any scanning system.
“FaceMOUSE” allows you to write, therefore communicate, by moving the mouse over the buttons of a virtual keyboard viewed on the screen, such as the virtual and completely customizable keyboard integrated to “FaceMOUSE” or the one integrated to Microsoft Windows (2000 or XP).
To provide an example, think about the traditional Windows calculator where, to enter numbers, you must click on the numbers with the mouse so that they are displayed. The virtual keyboard works the same way: to type words, you must click on the virtual keyboard’s letters by moving the mouse with FaceMOUSE. Please note that in order to write with “FaceMOUSE”, the user does NOT need to sit in just one position for a certain period of time like with other, similar aids, especially if you use a virtual keyboard that is integrated with the software.

3. Simplify Communication
“FaceMOUSE” allows communicating also at disabled persons that cannot speak autonomously.
In effect the virtual keyboard of FaceMOUSE are completely customizable, then it’s possible associate to each “key” the words, phrases, images and sounds (recordable by user).

4. Educational games / rehabilitate one’s (FaceMOUSE: like mouse e sensor)
It’s possible use FaceMOUSE for play at educational and rehabilitate games, in order to help the child in scholastic activity or to improve his motoria ability. Moreover the game furthers the relationships between handicap child and non-handicap person.
FaceMOUSE doesn’t work as mouse emulator or keyboard only, but it works such sensor also; you can use FaceMOUSE instead of the hardware sensors in order to work with the software for disabled persons. FaceMOUSE is more comfortable among the hardware sensor and it requires less effort, because FaceMOUSE is adaptable at the person fully. For example the sensor must be fixed to a plane (it’s not easy always!) and the handicapped must coordinate one’s movement to press the sensor: often this work is very hard! Instead FaceMOUSE is suitable on the person fully!

5. Videogames (FaceMOUSE as mouse, joystick or keyboard)
FaceMOUSE allows playing common videogames, that required using the standard keyboard or mouse. In fact it’s possible associate at person motion not only movement of mouse cursor, but pressure of keyboard key also. To provide an example, think about a videogame that requires pressing the key of traditional keyboard, in particular the directional arrows, to drive a car. Well, thanks to FaceMOUSE the disabled people can drive the car moving one’s head, for example, turning right the head in order to turn right the car , and turn left the head to drive the car at left.

6. Mobile aid for visual and oral communication
FaceMOUSE work on desktop computer and on portable computer (notebook). If FaceMOUSE is installed on notebook and this is fixed at the wheelchair of disabled person, FaceMOUSE allows at handicapped to communicate and to speak with anyone autonomously. In fact FaceMOUSE shows on the screen and reads(thanks to an text to speak) the words that the person writes.

7. Home Automation
FaceMOUSE allows to interact with one’s home at physically disabled people, serious handicapped also (the home must be motorized, obviously). Then for example the person can phones, can opens and closes the shutters or the home doors, can turns on and off the light bulb, etc…
