FABULA: the virtual keyboard and symbolic communicator by AIDA onlus
The communicator for the disabled people by AIDA Onlus, FABULA is a software suitable and indicated for people with motor difficulties which prevent them from using a normal PC with their own physical keyboard.
It can also be used with school-age children and teenagers with slight cognitive impairments who, thanks to the software’s virtual keyboard, are put in a position to communicate in any situation.
What does Fabula communicator do?
Fabula is both an alphabetic communicator and a symbolic communicator, ie it is able to provide keyboards and tables with letters and/or symbols for alternative augmentative communication (AAC).
Furthermore, both tables and keyboards can be created ad hoc for the student by parents, support teachers, educators, thanks to the programmability of the software.
Fabula is equipped with a system that allows you to type precisely, without making a mistake, the desired letter, phrase or image.
Thanks to a filter, Fabula software is able to calculate the permanence on a certain key compared to others, providing the right choice.
A very good thing for all people with Parkinson’s for example, or other people with imprecise and uncontrolled movements.
Fabula is also equipped with a letter prediction system, which manifests itself in letters in yellow boxes, and word prediction, blue boxes, which makes writing faster.
it is sufficient to type a few characters and immediately our Fabula communicator will propose the most probable letters and words after those just chosen.
With Fabula it’s possible to use the virtual keyboard to be able to write on document files such as docx, or word, making it possible to write entire texts, books, articles and homeworks for school and then print them normally or save them in folders as is done on any computer.
